José Ramirez / Antonio Mateu Ramis

The model 1A Concert model of José Ramirez,
after some inquiries made by Juan Garcia Rey in 1981.
This guitar has that specific warm cedar top sound
with lots of volume and a beautiful balance.

The back of this instrument that still is in pristine condition.
However due to bad storage in the past (moisture) there
is a crack beneath the bridge. As there was still enough
"flesh" the sides of the crack had to be bowed back in
order to be make a solid repair and teh sound: even better!

As can be clearly seen this guitar bears the so called
blue label only ment for guitars that meet the highest
standards in guitarbuilding.

Antonio Mateu Ramis
Antonio Mateu Ramis flamenco guitar built in 1953.
This builder ended his workshop in about 1965.
There were no successors. Sebastian Stenzel owes
a classical model from this luthier from 1963 that
inspired him to become a luthier himself!
